A WISH OR A DREAM OR BOTH That's what you are to me. Flaxen hair, soft, sweet lips. A person I could love And I wish that I were made of stone, So that I could not see What I could not have. Outside I sit On the cold steps, With nothing much to do. Thinking about you, I wish you were mine, To have and to hold, Forever and ever. Just to take in my arms, Kiss your lips, Love you Long into the night. A DREAM That's all you'll ever be to me. Smile so sweet Laugh so cute And a heart of gold Makes me feel so good, I just wish I could tell you How much I love you. And no God in the sky And no Devil in the sea Could do what you do to me. Bring me to my knees, Make me full of sadness. Make me cry almost every night Because I know you'll never Love me the way I love you. Yes, the thought of you bring me to my knees, Every night, Begging of God in heaven To make you mine. But in my heart I know That you'll never care For me the way I care for you, Love me The way I love you I shall stay. Tears rolling down my cheeks, My heart pounding fast. My ears hearing only The sound of your voice, My eyes seeing only Images of your face, and Smelling only the sweet smell Of you every day. A DREAM That's how you are. While I myself Is nothing more than A poet in a beast's body. Even I don't wish to see My own face in a mirror, Or hear my own voice When I speak. Here I sit, Seeing you smile. And it breaks my heart, Knowing you don't see my smile When I look at you. I just wish that I was Not a beast but a beauty Who could gain your attention When I speak. A beauty who could make you laugh And make you want to cry, All at the same time. This poem was written by Derek A carton 3\8\98 For Kimberly mcglothlin
